I have not used SpamAssassin, but I do use MailWasher, it is a pretty good program. You mark each email that comes in as spam, and after about a week or so, very few need to be marked anymore and it automagically deletes them for you.
I get about 200 emails a day, 30 of them are legitimate (although that number is higher now since I joined this fine mailling list :).
