Ok, here goes.. -c is for your configuration file. meaning snort.conf not a rules file..try snort -dvr /home/don/ch1.capture -A full -c /path/to/snort.conf Cheers! oh boy, 9am and someone is already drinking :-) PS:> Documentation is your friend, and thankfully snort comes with plenty of it a 50page manual, plus a FAQ, but wait who can forget google?
