I'll let the experts explain why the -q isn't workin 100%, but why don't you do this. snort -q -D -A fast >/dev/null 2>&1 That'd get rid of any messages right quick. -Jacob On Mon, 17 Feb 2003, Maarten de Vries wrote:
Hey, I start Snort every night from cron using a script, which basically utilizes the following commandline: snort -q -D -A fast -q should mean "Quiet operation. Don't display banner and initialization information" according to the manpage, but still I get an e-mail saying "Initializing Output Plugins!" from the Cron Daemon every time. Why does this still happen? I'm using 1.9.0 on FreeBSD 4.7.
