Snort as Service on Win2K

Hi

I just can't start Snort as service on Win2K server with service pack 3 and 
all the latest patches.

I am running Snort 1.8.7. It works like a charm when I run in through 
command mode but bombs with an error when I try to run it as a service.

Any suggestions or pointers ???
