Snort Compile problem on Mandrake 8.2

I am attempting to compile the 1.8.7 version of Snort, because the RPMs
complain about Dependency issues which are resolved.  Anyway the compile
proceeds to this point and fails:

Searching for mysqlclient results in the following:

[/usr/src/snort-1.8.7] locate mysqlclient
/usr/lib/mysql/libmysqlclient.a
/usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.10.0.0
/usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.10
/usr/lib/libmysqlclient_r.so.10.0.0
/usr/lib/libmysqlclient_r.so.10

/usr/src/snort-1.8.7/win32/WIN32-Libraries/mysql/mysqlclient.lib

Has anyone seen this before?
