Question about alert output configuration.

I am setting up snort on my network and I was wondering what this list felt
was the most common output source for Alerts?  I was looking into either
syslog or the CERT XML plug-in.  Is anyone using the XML plug-in from CERT?
Does this plug-in provide too much overhead on a busy network?  

I would love to get some feedback and expand my understanding of Snort.
