Demarc database schema issue

I've been following the install manual for Demarc and have successfully
loaded all the Perl modules (check_pms.pl gives an OK) and configured Mysql
on Redhat 7.2. When I try to run the Demarc database script "dm_load_db.pl"
I run into the following error: 
# ./dm_load_db.pl ... Is this correct?[y,N] > y 
/usr/bin/perl: error while loading shared libraries:
/usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.6.0/i386-linux/auto/DBD/mysql/mysql.so: undefined
symbol: mysql_init 

Any ideas on getting around this?
