And I have this week downloaded WinPCap 2.31 dated March 20th, 2002, time 10.12 AM. Is there anyone who understands what is happening here? I think I only saw this error before in this regard; The WinPCap site mentions to completely deinstall all old WinPCap software before installing a newer/the latest version of WinPCap - could it be in that direction? Additionally, per the above I have WinPCap 2.31 on disk, perhaps you need the latest? Any comments on the weird file-dates above I would appreciate. - -M DaemonLabs Network Security P.O. THe WinDump tool provided here was a great help: http://windump.polito.it <http://windump.polito.it> If i'm not mistaken, I had to uninstall all network add-ons and re-install the one from their site directly. Snort was installed by extracting it and copying to the requested directories. WinPcap was an installer and I didn't see any errors on install. Now for what it's worth, I also ran the Windows Update feature and put all the latest security patches on Win2000. How did you install Snort? Did you use an installer? Did you manually install Snort and WinPcap? I've fixed a multitude of these errors in the past couple of weeks. Fatal Error, Quitting.." The FAQ says this can be due to an old incompatible, or uninstalled version of WinPcap. I'm using 2.3 and the install appears to be running successfully. Is there any way I can check to make sure it is, or is this already a known issue?
