Snort Newbie questions regarding Win2k vs Linux/Unix

Hi, I finally got snort and acid working on a win2k box. Snort is logging nicely to the Mysql database and acid seems to be doing a good job as well. I even got the experimental graphical displays working too!! But I have another machine with RH 7.1 and Snort already running on it. I'd like to get acid working on it as well but before I take off and burn 20 or so hours messing with this stuff I would like to know exactly what is being lost by using Snort on a Win2K (M$ platform) box. Specifically I'd like to be able to use SPADE but I haven't seen it available in win32 flavor, are there any plans for that or is it even possible? On Linux I can run snort on an interface without an IP address, is that possible on win32 platforms? Are there any rules or attacks which are not recognized on win32 platforms? I know there is that whole debate of "M$ Vs. The Universe" but I'd like to stay focused on Snort so the list monitors don't have to use their scissors. Thank you.
