Here is what I use. It might be helpful. CONFIGURING THE TERMINAL 'SERVER': In /etc/inittab, add the following line: S1:12345:respawn:/sbin/getty ttyS0 DT19200 vt100 Once this line is added, you can make init aware of your changes with the command: kill -HUP 1 This will allow a login on the terminal only AFTER the terminal server has booted. You won't see boot-up messages. If you intend to always do this, add the following entry to your lilo.conf file: append=" console=tty0 console=ttyS0,19200N8 " Then just run lilo and reboot. Jason Lewis http://www.packetnexus.com It's not secure "Because they told me it was secure". The people at the other end of the link know less about security than you do. And that's scary. -----Original Message----- From: snort-users-admin () lists sourceforge net [mailto:snort-users-admin () lists sourceforge net]On Behalf Of Ramin Alidousti Sent: Thursday, August 23, 2001 10:41 AM To: Subba Rao Cc: Snort Users Subject: Re: [Snort-users] Blackbox setup - Keyboard and Mouse On Thu, Aug 23, 2001 at 10:04:14AM +0000, Subba Rao wrote:
I am setting up a regular Intel PC as blackbox running snort. If this proves successful then our folks may buy a rack mounted blackbox. For now, everything is setup perfectly (hopefully). The box is on the network with restricted access and snorting the network traffic. It is

setup to startup with Snort running at boot up (in case of power failure). The only issue for now is the need to have keyboard and mouse to be attached to the box. If these devices are missing the system is throwing a BIOS message upon reboot. I suppose I could disable these devices in the BIOS to bypass this error message. Are there any OS (Linux/OpenBSD)
