Drugs. Gambling. Terrorism. Child Pornography.

BusinessWeek has investigated the dark sides of the Internet. It ain't
pretty. BW goes further than just describing the phenomenon. The magazine
also argues for a solution. To the BusinessWeek editors, the Web has 'too
many dark and dangerous corners and too little law and order'.

First they suggest an end to balkanization of law enforcement. The
legislator should make clear who is responsible for policing the Internet.

Second, they suggest using knowledge from previous succesful efforts in
fighting online criminal activity. However, they conclude:

"The best deterrent may be a clear message that both the supplier and the
buyer of illegal goods will face stiff penalties if they're caught."
