*********** Response to: http://www.politechbot.com/p-01829.html *********** Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 17:08:24 -0800 (PST) From: "J. Eric Townsend" <jet () well com> To: declan () well com Subject: rms's rant that you forwarded The book by the anti-tv folks lumps TiVo in with Microsoft et al, and rms' parrots it without doing any research. TiVo is based on open software (linux) and TiVo, Inc. has relased its changes under the GPL. TiVo has also published it's privacy practices and policies on its website. Maybe rms needs to learn to read before slagging people? *********** From: Sameer Parekh <sameer () bpm ai> Subject: Re: FC: SpyTV, interactive television, and lessons about free software To: declan () well com Date: Mon, 19 Mar 2001 19:57:36 -0800 (PST) It's far from clear that free software is safe from this same problem. -- sameer *********** ------------------------------------------------------------------------- POLITECH -- Declan McCullagh's politics and technology mailing list You may redistribute this message freely if it remains intact.
