Subject: Access to USGS Eartquake Information restored.

The DOI disconnect caused quite a stir in the North Coast seismological
community as virtually all access to current seismicity information was
unnecessarily cut off.

Most, if not all, sources for current US earthquake data rely on USGS
seismic monitoring systems. Here in the Gorda and Cascadia subduction
zones north of California's Cape Mendocino, access to current seismicity
information is an even greater concern than in the areas further south
surrounding the San Andreas and Hayward fault systems.

Fortunately, as of Monday, Dec. 10th, the USGS National Earthquake
Information Center Website, at <http://wwwneic.cr.usgs.gov/> is up and
running again, and most of the necessary seismic data is now available, for
research and safety interests, and to the public.

Let's hope that future DOI and DOJ knee-jerking does not unnecessarily
place the safety of the public in jeopardy as it has in this case.

Eureka, CA
