For your list if you think it's worth posting; my take on the Munich summit
and related issues.

An excerpt:

" ... Government officials seeking to exploit ignorance and panic over the
Internet used to be the chief proponents of regulating Internet speech. Now,
commercial interests, assisted by a number of scholars, have shouldered them
aside. They campaign under the banner of saving the children, warding off
government regulation or "mainstreaming the Net." But the bottom line seems
to be making the Internet safe for commerce.
In their zeal to "balance" freedom of expression with commercial
convenience, they overlook the fact that they will be strip-mining the
Internet. When it's all over, what once was a vibrant and inviting
environment will be nothing but a scarred and barren landscape. ... "

Subject: Reason article on Internet Gambling

Declan,

Readers of your Politech list might enjoy reading "Gamlber's Web," my
latest article on Internet gambling. It ran as the feature story in the
October issue of Reason magazine, and is available at
<http://www.reasonmag.com/9910/fe.tb.gamblers.html>. The article
analyzes the latest version of the Kyl bill as well as the Final Report
of the National Gambling Impact Study Commission.

Sadly, though, the online version does not include the print version's
pictures of cyber-dogs playing poker.
