Monitor mode work with iwlwifi (http://www.intellinuxwireless.org/) and
ipw3945 (http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/).

For injection try ipwraw-ng
(http://homepages.tu-darmstadt.de/~p_larbig/wlan/)

What drivers are you using?
