For Linux try http://ipw3945.sourceforge.net/
and
http://tomoyo.sourceforge.jp/cgi-bin/lxr/source/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2100.c or http://www.promethos.org/lxr/http/source/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2100.c also I think that the drivers that come with Backtrack 2 allows capturing in promiscuous mode.

For windows you can try wildpackets omnipeek as I think it's the only app that will allow you to capture packets in promiscuous mode from an Intel 3945 card.

I am having trouble getting my laptop to go into promiscuous mode on its wireless connection.

It's a Dell Inspiron 640m with an Intel 3945abg wireless card.

Promiscuous mode doesn't work in either Windows XP or in Ubuntu linux (it's configured for dual booting). Using wireshark,
if you try to use promiscuous mode to capture packets, it won't capture anything at all. It only captures packets if promiscuous
mode is turned off.

Is this a known limitation with this wireless card? Or is there a configuration trick I'm missing?
