My 2 cents.. (-sT) Connect scan method performs a full tcp handshake (-sS) SYN keeps the connection on a embryonic state, w/o performing the last ACK on the tcp handshake sequence, thus performing faster and actually being stealthier than a -sT connect scan. Some IDSs will trigger far less events on a SYN scan than on a Connect one. -sN, -sF and -SX scans do not work on windows boxes as they will ALWAYS respond for those three scans with a RST, no matter if the service is open or closed. I have been using NMAP -vv -A -sS -O -p1-65535 -P0 -oX target.xml www.xxx.yyy.zzz. I find I got more information using -sS than -sT and requires short time. Any suggestions/comments are appreciated.
