Hey guys .. I Will try to make this short and sweet. At my job we are looking to implement a VOIP
infrastructure. A typical infrastructure with voice and date usually will have both voice and data
on a
seperate VLAN.

Then a typical implementation is asking for trouble. The PC can flood
100Mb/s Ethernet, so it's possible for malcode on the PC to bring down
that particular phone. IMO, that's a poor implementation.

A *good* infrastructure will have a seperate physical LAN segment for
the phones (probably with PoE support.)

You might want to look at the recommendations in NIST's SP800 series
that address VoIP. Doing VoIP right isn't as cheap as doing it
poorly, but sooner or later if you lose voice and email at the same
time, doing it right will be postively cheap.
