Depends on what the modem is connected to.  If its connected to a Shiva
LanRover or an Ascend remote access box, you can use nmap to find it.  If
its connected to a Windows box, that's a lot harder.

modem,

the need for the modem to be connected ?.  Specifically, in a LAN
environment,

administrator/pen tester identify a modem through the network, rather than
