Android malware & read only filesystems

I was wondering if anyone has seen Android malware samples that re-mount
any of the read-only partitions ( /, /system, ...) and then write to them
for persistence, behavior modification, or any other reason.  If you have
and can share the information please send anything (blog posts,
whitepapers, samples) that you may have.
