Thanks to Darren we are going to have a machine at Shmoocon. I'll be
bringing a big disk and the plan is to have a private network with NFS
and Samba shares, anyone can plug in and upload and download tables.

I'm going to send out invites to a couple of other lists, lets hope we
can get a good collection together.

Greetings,

i have yet to have the pleasure of being let out of the bunker to attend Shmoocon. Please forgive the noob question
but what exactly are the Rainbox tables that everyone is talking about?

thanks,

Ask Google, there are loads of descriptions but here is an overview
from Wikipedia

I've shouted @drobo on twitter a couple of times but
now heard
anything back so feel free to get in touch. I was
thinking similar to
you about giving it away but rather than giving having
it as an item
in the HFC silent auction. Gets them some cash, Drobo
a charity to
make it worth while and gets us a drobo.

If we can't get them to help then maybe we could get
someone else to
sponsor a cheap machine with a big disk(s) or even
just a couple of
disks and caddies to run them as external drives. Then
all we need is
a gigabit switch and some network cables.
