Hacklab presentation, any suggestions

Some people might be interested in building a virtual, commercial-grade
IPS to test different attacks against and see how the IPS reacts or what
it logs.  There are some great instructions for building a Cisco IPS on
VMWare here; I've built several using these steps:

Of course note I am in no way saying this doesn't violate some kind of
EULA or Cisco licensing (and IANAL) :-) You could always use Snort too,
but this might help some folks simulate closer to what is in their
actual environment or what they might encounter in the field.

Hey Adrian,

You can build Cisco/Juniper style router to segment your network by 
using Vyatta http://www.vyatta.com/ which would allow you to use left 
over PC hardware to build a firewall/router and give your lab internet 
access without causing issues on your main network.  Since it is based 
on Debian you can also run tcpdump and any other linux based tool for 
traffic pattern analysis, or virtually anything else you may want to 
play with.
