Interest in contributing for Performance/Optimization Specialist

Hello nmap,

I am Vinay an undergrad looking to contribute this summer, I went through
nmap's projects list and I feel I will be best suited for
Performance/Optimization
Specialist

And I want to dedicate my whole summer for it and improve it in all
possible ways, Can someone please guide me what my first step towards this
should be, I am available on #nmap @freenode most of the time please pm me
with any instructions i should follow !
