nmap contributions

Hi, 

I would like to ask about what is the best way to start contributing to nmap? I saw NSE script ideas and I liked 
several of them. I'm also interested in creating scripts for testing IPv6 vulnerabilities. So is the NSE script 
creation the best way for me to start contributing?

I also sent email regarding IPv6 RA flood NSE flood, but I didn't receive any answers regarding it and possibilities of 
accepting the script into the library. Could I ask for some feedback?
