Nmap bug while port scanning

Hi,

I tried using two different syntax for port scanning.
While scanning using this option: -p1-1024 on a target ,the ports open on
the target were not detected by nmap.
However when I targeted a specific port say port 541, it shows that the port
is open.I have also confirmed through telnet that the port is found to be
open.
