Do you have UAC enabled?
Did you run nmap in a command prompt opened with elevated privileges?
You open an elevated command prompt by right-clicking on the command prompt
link and using "run as administrator".

Hope it helps

Subject: vista issue

I am running version 4.20 of nmap and version 4.0.1 for winpcap on Vista
Professional and get

Starting Nmap 4.20 ( http://insecure.org ) at 2007-07-26 15:54 Eastern
Daylight

Time

dnet: Failed to open device eth4

QUITTING!

I have googled this error and tried the suggestions notated....running
elevated privileges, turning off UAC, going to the beta version of
winpcap etc...but still get the same error.

Here is the output of my nmap -iflists...the subnets have been changed
but not the hosts.

Any suggestions besides switching off vista? (would love to but corp
reasons won't let me)
