I had this problem with a router from my ISP. I think the hardware was so cheap it couldn't handle the traffic nmap generated. In the end I just got a new router. Although, you could try updating your modems firmware or playing with nmap's timing options[1] thanks - eddie 1 - http://insecure.org/nmap/man/man-performance.html On 15/06/07, chaitanya <rangabng () yahoo com> wrote:
hello folks, I am from India and my connection to the amazing world of internet is via ADSL router. Device Info:http://www.huawei.com/products/terminal/products/view.do?id=86 its Huawei Smartax 841 modem. My Operation Systems(dual boot): WinXP and Kubuntu I run nmap under both the OS and face the same problem. the command 'namp -sS -T4 -O scanme.nmap.org' starts the scan but after a few seconds the modem freezes and i can't browse the net although nmap runs at a slower pace(very slow indeed refering to the progress of the scan), and the scan never completes. This problem is with majority of the targets(almost all with which i've experimented). My ethernet card is Dlink DFE-520TX. Please help me in this regard. ____________________________________________________________________________________ Looking for a deal? Find great prices on flights and hotels with Yahoo!
