Howdy all!

NCartographer for WinXP (0.4) has now been launched into the raging seas
of the OS community.

You can pick up your copy at :
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=175640

Currently, a NSIS installer and a .zip file containing the source code is
available. Windows users will not need to install gtk, gtkmm, or libxml++,
as the required .dll's (quite a bundle) are included in the executable's
directory. After the linux-tested code is posted, I will come back and
provide links to the makefile and the developer-packages for gtk/gtkmm and
friends, so windows users can compile from source.

A linux source/.configure package should be available at the same location
within the next day or two. I'll post the requirements as well as a link.

While I've got it working smoothly to the best of my knowledge at present,
every launch has its rough edges and unpolished spots (especially with a CS
student's sleep habits ;-). To that end, _please_ report any bugs you find
to:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/reporting/?group_id=175640&atid=874044.

Also, as NCart matures over the coming weeks (and months... and years), I
would like to incorporate the ideas and priorities of the -dev list members
early on, so NCart can quickly mature into a tool shaped by its intended
user community right from the beginning. While I have my own immediate list
of features and functionality to add, please post well-thought-out feature
requests to:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=add&group_id=175640&atid=874047

Doing a summer's worth of development for something other than a class has
been an incredible experience. I really appreciate everyone's patience and
willingness to provide design feedback to this non-hacker, MS-reared newbie!

I will set up a web site + wordpress blog on ncart.sourceforge.net, but
only after I get the linux released finished. Once that is posted to the
release, I'll send a short follow-up email to this thread on the list.

Thanks!

-Cole

P.S. - If there is someone on the list who has had some experience in
gtk/gtkmm (i somewhat-learned those libraries for this summer), and/or is
willing to give me an experienced hand with the streamlining and expansion
of NCart, please feel free to contact me - I can use all the help I can get!

Thanks again!
