problem running nmap

Hi, I just downloaded nmap-3.93 and whenever i run it, I get an error
message.

"nMap has encountered a problem and needs to close.  We are sorry for the
inconvenience."
clicking on the error report, it gives:

Error signature:
AppName: nmap.exe

ModName: kernel32.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180
Offset: 0001eb33

my OS is Windows XP Media Center Edition.
