RE: Nmap on Windows NT?

Sometimes the WinPCap install seems to fail to work or may stop working.
Reinstalling WinPCap seems to fix the problem. Also some installs of Windows
2000 work fine without WinPCap and others require it. No rhyme or reason as
near as I can tell. Retrying the WinPCap install has always fixed the problem
(sometimes a couple of tries).

I have received several messages like the one below. Does anyone know
why NmapNT would work on some machines that fail with standard Nmap?
What can we do to fix this? Does Nmap fail on all NT machines, or
just some of them?

Cheers,

Hi,

I noticed that you dont have Nmap for NT posted in your download
section. I found out the hard way and tried the windows2k/98/ME
version. When you use that version on NT you get an error about No
Raw Access to the Ethernet device. Browsing the net I found someone
or eEye Digital Security that ported Nmap to windows NT
(http://www.eeye.com/html/Research/Tools/nmapNT.html). I just
thought you might want to add that to your downloads section. It
doesn't have a GUI interface but it works.
