Thanks. I got a little confused. I thought this was a new patch. You are talking about the mod to win32_socket in the winip.c file, right? --------------------------------------- Kevin³ Davis What could possibly go wrong? kevin.davis () mindless com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andy Lutomirski" <luto () myrealbox com> To: "Jeff" <typoon () free fr>; <nmap-dev () insecure org> Sent: Monday, April 01, 2002 11:19 AM Subject: Re: RE: Nmap on WinXP Pro?
It seems that all closed ports are filtered. IMHO the default ping mode
is
TCP-ACK | ICMP. ICMP scanning is broken without the post-31 patch,
leaving
only ACK, which may be blocked by some (most likely stateful) firewalls. You can check this with -sA -P0 -p80. To get around this, either apply
the
patch, or try -sS with -P0 or -PS (for SYN). Note to Kevin: the patch is near the end of the list archive for the previous quarter. Andy
