I have been running nmap 2.54 beta 33 on my w2k server (sp2) dual amd box just fine using winpcap 2.3 ... haven't had any issues with SMP at all. Peter --- Kevin³_Davis <kevin.davis () mindless com> wrote:
If I'm not mistaken, the reason winpcap is required is to provide raw socket support that nmap needs. Windows 2000 and Windows XP has built in raw socket support. I seem to remember being able to successfully run nmap without winpcap installed on Windows 2000 systems. Not sure what else your problem could be except that maybe you have some firewall rules set up to prohibit these applications from running properly. --------------------------------------- Kevin³ Davis What could possibly go wrong? kevin.davis () mindless com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stou Sandalski" <tangui () cell2000 net> To: <nmap-dev () insecure org> Sent: Saturday, May 04, 2002 6:13 AM Subject: Multi-procHas anyone had any success running nmap on SMPWinXP or W2k system?Winpcap does not work on SMP machines (I justfound out), so netherethereal nor nmap works on my primary box.
