When I open this thread, I just wanted to make sure we are all on the same page. I think I even mentioned what IETF thinks 
when I created this thread. And asked "I would
love to know where you stand on this proposal." 

This is a mailing list for network operations. When SMTP on another alternate port is something we have to configure our routers for (i.e. an ACL update), then it might have some small relevance here. Until then, talk about it is just noise.
