Depending on your internet connection to be able to dial 911 is a bit foolhardy, to put it nicely. It pays off to have a phone that's only powered through the phone line itself, for emergencies (and your everyday home phone calls *gasp*). Especially in a country where power outages are as frequent as full moons. The good old land line hardly ever goes down.
And you may find the audio quality is better too. While you're at it, make it a rotary phone. :-)
