This ^. There's nothing new under the sun, so you can nearly always find
some aux module that's close in spirit to what you want to do. If there
isn't -- you're doing something so radical that no module resembles what
you want -- you're probably not writing an aux module at all, but
instead writing something that would be better off as a Metasploit plugin.

These days, the best thing you could do is to fork the
rapid7/metasploit-framework project on GitHub, and sketch out what you
want to accomplish. That way anyone helping can easily see where you're at.
