This is pretty strange. That mixin should definitely exist. Can you do the following: 1. start msfconsole 2. setg LogLevel 3 3. save 4. restart msfconsole 5. repeat the same steps that you took to trigger the error After that, send me your ~/.msf3/logs/framework.log offlist. It seems like there must be some unhandled exception being generated in the background, but I can't quite imagine what at this point. Testing with msf_irb_shell confirms that the mixin identified above exists: $ tools/msf_irb_shell.rb
