http://www.europemedia.net/shownews.asp?ArticleID=1531 15/02/2001 Cyberguardian, the Spanish internet security bank, has voiced its concern at the rise in web server attacks during the first month of this year. Javier Lorenzo, General Manager of Cyberguardian, said that during the first six weeks, the number of hacked web sites of their clients had risen by 210 per cent. "If we sum up the results of a recent survey, which states that 56 per cent of the hacked servers were running under the Windows NT platform (the most used system in Spain), the situation becomes alarming," said Lorenzo. "That is why it is absolutely necessary that all sectors linked to internet development, i.e. Government, ISPs, telecom operators, portals and e-commerce companies elaborate joint policies to encourage the confidence of the user." According to Cyberguardian, the increased need of businesses to widen their range of online services has caused a proliferation of certain technologies which aim to increase user interactivity (PHP, ASP, PERL and JavaScript). Major programming and configuration errors have been detected in these kind of technologies, which is the cause of many security problems.
