Dave, and everyone:

Standalone GPS units do this as well. In the video at

TomTom claims that it depersonalizes the data. But in the video, it almost
protests too much... making one wonder whether it really will.

Makes you want to keep the GPS turned off and in the glove box unless you
really need help navigating.

Dave,

This already exists to some extent.  The free traffic navigation app Waze
which is very helpful, has advertisements popup for local restaurants and
business and asks you to touch the banner to change your driving directions
to reroute you to that place of business.

As I'm sure you know, Waze was purchased by Google for $1.5 billion in
2013.  There's money in those apps and Google wouldn't pay that kind of
money without an expectation of financial returns.
