It's actually worse than that in some parts of the US. According to a 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in August 2007, you don't have a right even to turn around and leave once you've entered the screening process. If you're selected for a body scan and say you'd rather not fly, the TSA has the right to detain you and screen you anyway. The case is United States v.
