People who publish numbers should try to be a bit  more numerate:

Each human emits on the order of 1 kg of CO2 per day due to normal breathing, or about a third of a ton per year. So if we are to believe this rather extreme and supposedly alarming analysis, total worldwide spam at 17m tons is eclipsed by human breathing in a relatively small country of about 50m people.

Some have estimated that 1,000m people use the Internet today, worldwide. (their breathing alone accounting for >300m tons). So the spam problem is roughly equivalent to having those people who actually use the Internet do a little more exercise than they normally do.

Let's focus on some *real* problems. Symantec's desire to scam stimulus money should be treated with the huge lack of respect it deserves. Flush it in the crapper.
