It uses no upstream bandwidth at all.

It uses about 6 mb/s * 86400 s/day * 1/3 * 30 days/per month / 8 b/B =  
0.65 * 10^12 Bytes/month down.  That is shared among some percentage  
of the 500 homes passed by your cable segment (assuming everyone is  
watching something differently, it is shared by 1).

So month's usage is equivalent of 650 GB of data down, 0.0 GB up is a  
worst case model for your "typical" digital TV customer, if they never  
watch what their neighbors watch, and get really high quality (6mb/s)  
TV.
