Dave, for IP if you wish...

I'd echo Gene's thoughts, and also note that in Barton Gellman's book
"Angler" on Dick Cheney, the information Governor Frank Keating supplied on
this questionaire was later used against him for personal or political
reasons.

Also, every traffic ticket you ever got over $50? There's no possible way
I'd remember them. I don't even think it's possible such a thing has
existed here in California since the '70s.

Some qualified, imaginative people don't seek government offices -- not
necessarily elected, but appointed. Ever wonder why?

Well, here's one reason:

and here's the list of questions:

I know that many of us have gotten to where we are because we have been
controversial at times, and unafraid to espouse an unpopular opinion and
take a stand. Apparently, those are big negatives for jobs with the
Executive Branch.

Plus, to list every electronic communication and contents of every talk I have ever given? Ha! I don't even remember them from a few months ago!
I can't imagine it is much different for most of you. And I don't know
anyone who has kept copies of all their public talks and presentations.

Needless to say, I am shocked at the extent and level of detail they are
requesting to even consider someone for a position. And given the news
that their campaign was hacked in the past, and the White House network has
been regularly hacked from outside, how comfortable should someone be in
providing all this highly-personal information online?

From a privacy and security point of view, this is rather grim. It also
seems stacked against getting the best and brightest to work for the
government!

That said, if any of you are interested in a position with the new
administration, you can apply online via www.change.org (see near the
bottom of the page).
