No reason to keep me anonymous. I've run a mail server on what is now Comcast's network for just about ten years. (I didn't sign up with Comcast. I signed up with MediaOne. Then AT&T bought them, then Comcast bought it.) Every so often a robot would send a test message through to make sure I wasn't an open relay. I thought that was perfectly reasonable behavior. Yesterday at 3:17AM, they blocked port 25 inbound. Yes, inbound to my machine. When I finally got through to someone who could understand my question (32 minutes of talking to four people), I was told that I was a spammer, that they would not under any circumstances re-open the port, and I should use Outlook. I'm lucky: I live in a part of the US where I have options for (relatively) high speed internet access. Next Friday the installers for a Comcast competitor should show up at my house. -dsr- -- This message has been scanned for viruses and subversive content by DHS, and is believed to be traitorous Commie propaganda. http://tao.merseine.nu:81/~dsr/eula.html is hereby incorporated by reference. ------------------------------------------- Archives: http://v2.listbox.com/member/archive/247/=now RSS Feed: http://v2.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/247/ Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
