NEW HAVEN, Connecticut: Two people who sprinkled flour in a
parking lot to mark a trail for their running club instead set
off a bioterrorism scare and now face a felony charge.

The sprinkled powder forced hundreds to evacuate an IKEA furniture
store Thursday.

"It was absolutely not in any way what we intended and not what
we anticipated," Daniel Salchow said Friday.

He and his sister, Dorothee, who is visiting from Germany, were
charged with first-degree breach of peace, a felony.

The siblings are part of the Hash House Harriers, which calls
itself a "drinking club with a running problem" and has more than
1,800 chapters around the world. The runs typically end with beer
stops at bars or homes.

The Salchows said they have sprinkled flour everywhere from New
York to California without incident.

"We had done the exact same thing in Washington, D.C., as recently
as two months ago," Daniel Salchow said.

Prof F:

Note the MAJOR error in the second paragraph. The two runners
did not force anything. Rather:

"Hysterical authorities panicked and evacuated the Ikea store"

would likely be more accurate. And when presented with a verifiable
story, they arrested the MD. CYA in action.

Sounds just like Boston and those LED signs; or the woman on the
airliner who insisted the dark skinned Secret Service agent on
a flight to Crawford was a threat -- because he was reading a book
about understanding Muslims....

ps: You can make an explosion with flour; it happens in mills
all the time; and further, a antique Boy Mechanic book taught
millions of kids how to blow the lid of a coffee can. Shouldn't
DHS institute a licensing scheme to regulate flour sales so no
terrorists can obtain any?
