Is SONY schizo?

No. "SONY" doesn't exist except as an idea. People make up a
company. These people have ideas and opinions about how the company
should be run. Usually, a consensus view develops. Sometimes not.

SONY is made up of people who can see that the company has two
opposing interests: selling hardware which works well (makes consumers
happy) with digital audio, and selling digital audio (which requires
making consumers unhappy by preventing them from copying digital
audio).

These competing interests cannot be reconciled. SONY's shareholders
should push to split up the company. That way, they can choose
between more copying of digital audio and less copying of it.
