Subject: For IP if appropriate ... SVP at CAP

Dear Dave -

For IP if you think this is appropriate.

A few months ago I took a new day job as CTO and a senior fellow at a
think tank in DC called the Center for American Progress. [1] My work is half on the policy end and half on helping advise on basic infrastructure
(everything from streaming media to getting colos up and running to
setting up some skunk works projects). The place was started about two
years ago by John Podesta, who is the CEO. We're well over 100 people
and are located a couple of blocks from the White House.

We've spent some time really beefing up the tech staff, but are still
looking for a Sr. VP to run the on-line communications operation.
This includes the ability to oversee and manage a large number of tech
projects in support of various web sites, online advocacy, and editorial
functions, but also requires the ability to sit at the top table with
some very sharp policy, communications, and advocacy people who are in
the senior staff. (See [2] for bios.)

We've done the search firm, and have tried various other strategies,
but so far we just haven't found the right match. Might I abuse the
interesting-people list and ask you to post this note? ([3]) IP is definitely
the first thing that came to mind in terms of reaching a group of people
who might know people who might be interested.

Anybody interested should email their resume and a cover letter to
Jobs () AmericanProgress org.

Regards,

Carl

will reveal that this would not be the first time I've asked Dave
for the priv to slightly misuse his list as a vehicle for making announcements
or solicitations ;), my favorite announcement on IP came to you

   True story. :)
