-------- Original Message -------- Subject: Who's responsible at Sony? Date: Thu, 17 Nov 2005 11:56:06 -0500 (EST) From: mike () jurney org To: dave () farber net The Sony rootkit debacle gets more and more outrageous every day - Apparently this commercial product contains GPL DRM-circumvention code. If this is true, the scope of the misstep has left the realm of public relations and entered that of the criminal. My question is, who's responsible? What's the name and title of the Sony executive that authorized this scheme? What's the name and title of the development manager at First4Internet that allowed code licensed under the GPL to be compiled into their product and sold? Is there any way to know? Is there any chance of finding out? Individuals are regularly dragged into court for circumventing the rights of content producers; How likely is it that anyone at any of the companies involved in this mess will answer for circumventing the rights of the de-DRMS authors? -- Michael D.
