Prof. Farber,

I say this as an academic who believes that the reality of war is
horrible.

While understanding combat in the context of the war is important,
understanding the politics of war in the context of combat is at least
equally important.

And I cannot think of anything more perverse and profane than to divorce
political ideologies from the reality of war and combat.
