about the concept of paper "receipts". I don't believe that this is what the advocates of paper backups forelectronic systems are advocating, but they are partly to blame for allowing
this perception to get out.Clearly, the notion of a paper ballot "receipt" is totally worthless. Besides the potential for corruption, such "receipts" are of no use whatsoever to the
individual voter. They are only useful to the community as a whole for audits, recounts and verification.The anti-e-voting forces would be better served by talking about paper audit
trails than paper receipts.Better yet, the question should be asked - what was ever the problem with optically scanned paper ballots? In my opinion, this and not touchscreens
