Announcement of the honor for the British citizen who lives in the United States was made Wednesday by Buckingham Palace. "This applies to the whole Web development community, and to the inventors and developers of the Internet, whose work made the Web possible," the 48-year-old said in a statement. "I accept this as an endorsement of the spirit of the Web ...of making best efforts to ensure its fundamental technologies are available to all."
